Twin Cities Wedding Mini Dessert Table and 4 Tier Cake: Jordyn & Pete

This soft and romantic cake and dessert table is a nice twist on the vintage theme.  We knew right away that this would be a fun table to put together.  The bride, groom, and bride's mother came in with lots of ideas.  And it didn't hurt that the MOB owns a vintage furniture store!

This 4 tier wedding cake with pale pink cream cheese icing and dusty peach sugar flowers was the perfect focal point for this table.  Arranged in an old suitcase lined with silk, this cake was filled with vanilla bean cake layered with rich chocolate ganache, vanilla bean mousse and crushed fresh raspberries.

Mini desserts included Black Velvet Cake Lollipops, Southern Banana Pudding and Dark Chocolate Dessert Shooters, Vanilla French Macarons Tinted Pink, Sinfully Chocolate Mini Cupcakes, and Carrot Cake Cupcakes.

I love the subtle color palette and refined rustic-ness  (yes, I did just create my own word!) of it all.  And this is a perfect example of a gorgeous cake with not one ounce of fondant - for those who are always asking me for alternatives.

This wedding was also featured on the Half Baked blog so check it out there too!

Rustic Minnesota Wedding Cupcakes & Cake - Jessie and Ricky

Jessie and Ricky's lakeside wedding was full of vintage charm!  They used things like burlap, twine, & mason jars in the decor as well as gorgeous wildflowers to add pops of color to the setting.  And what cuter way to add to the setting then with a lovely cupcake dessert table.  We provided milk glass cake stands and a cupcake tower for displaying our Vanilla Bean, Black Velvet, and S’mores cupcakes.  At the top of the tower was a small cake for cutting with an adorably sweet cake topper.

Thanks to Lace Hanky Photography for sharing the images, and congrats to Jessie and Ricky!

Welcome Baseball Season

In honor of baseball season and today's home opener, here are some festive treats we did with a MN Twins theme.  We made cutout cookies in the shape of Mauer's jersey and baseballs with icing stitching along with cookies with an edible Twins emblem on them.  The cupcakes were topped with flat baseball circles made from fondant.

Good luck Minnesota Twins - hope you have a great season!

Cow Cake for Samantha's 2nd Birthday

Cocoa & Fig was asked to make a specialty cake for a very dear friend's daughter, named Samantha.  All she wanted for her 2nd birthday was "cows."  When asked if there was anything else she wanted she replied, "baby cows".  Well, then what would be more fitting for her cake than a baby cow?  So here is what we came up with. It's about 6 layers of cake and buttercream that was covered with white fondant along with colored fondant accent pieces.  We also airbrushed some pink rouge on her for the party.
