Cocoa & Fig Buttercream Icing Styles

At Cocoa & Fig, a buttercream cake is a classic celebration cake with 3 layers of cake, 2 layers of buttercream filling along with a layer of buttercream icing on the exterior of the cake.  The exterior buttercream can be styled just enough to make the cake look festive and beautiful.  Fresh flowers, fruit, bunting, or a cake topper are a nice finishing touch, or if you prefer, we can write a personalized inscription on top.

A Spring Wedding with Vintage Flair

With wedding season in full swing and the warm weather upon us, this colorful vintage wedding shoot has us wanting to work outside today!  Yellow, teal, red, and pink add pops of color among wooden tables and the outdoor setting.

Cocoa & Fig created a fun variety of cakes and desserts for this shoot including raspberry French macarons, chocolate dipped rice krispie treats, cake lollipops, a rustic coconut cake, a ribbon style buttercream cake, and strawberry parfaits in old soda fountain glasses.  Using accents like vintage style cake stands, lace doilies, 'antique' hardcover books, an old typewriter, and flowers placed in a galvanized tin can, the dessert display was balanced beautifully.

Cake Buffet and Dessert Shooters for Janna and Nick's Wedding

Janna and Nick's wedding was celebrated at their family home with a lovely backyard ceremony and an elegant tent reception.  Mi Mi Design coordinated all of the details mixing modern and rustic styles and the groom's mother did the floral arranging.

Their all-white cake buffet included chocolate cakes with vanilla bean buttercream with combed sides and vanilla cakes with cream cheese icing in a rustic, swirled style.  A variety of special recipe, gluten-free layered dessert shooters were also on the cake table including gluten-free Banana Pudding Shooters, gluten-free Key Lime Shooters, and gluten-free Tiramisu Shooters.
