Hibiscus Cupcakes

What do you order for dessert when having a Hawaiian themed party? Why Hibiscus Flower Cupcakes!! We created these little hibiscus flowers to top our yummy cupcakes. Flavors include vanilla bean with vanilla bean icing, dark chocolate fudge with chocolate satin icing and carrot cake with lemon cream cheese icing.

Here's some wonderful feedback from the client:

"Hi Laurie! Just wanted to drop you a note to tell you that the cupcakes were perfect! They were as cute as could be and as you could tell, worked out as both the centerpieces and dessert! The flavors were all a hit---I had chocolate and ate every crumb and petal! My grandchildren each had one also after the shower. Luckily one is a chocolate lover and one is a vanilla lover, as there was only one chocolate cupcake left!!! My granddaughter wanted to keep the flower (because it was SO pretty) to put up in her new room.....she's going to be 7 next month!!!"

In Season: Corn

It's that time of year again! Time for Corn on the Cob, Roasted Corn Chowder, Cornbread Muffins, Corn & Blueberry Pancakes, Sweet Corn Succotash, Creamy Corn Pudding..... I could go on. Corn is one of those magical foods that goes well with just about anything. Check our Farmer's Market booth for fresh corn items like Bacon, Corn & Cheddar Quiche and Mixed Berry Corn Muffins!

Music Cake

Here's a music themed cake we created for a client. The recipient of this cake was the lead singer of a band, so we designed the cake with that in mind. The cake flavor is marble with our chocolate satin icing.

And we got some wonderful feedback as well: "Thank you so much Laurie and Joe for the awesome birthday cake for my Mom!! Everyone absolutely loved the design and the cake was delicious!"

Team USA

We've been staying up way past our bedtime every night this week to catch a few hours of the Olympics in Beijing. So I was ecstatic when I got a request to make Olympic Ring cupcakes! These cutie pies are vanilla bean cake with vanilla bean icing and each is decorated with a color of the five Olympic rings.

"These five intertwined rings represent the unity of the five inhabited continents (with the Americas regarded as one continent). The five colored rings on a white field form the Olympic Flag. The colors, white, red, blue, green, yellow, and black, were chosen such that each nation has at least one of these colors in its national flag."

Special shout out to Michael Phelps who swims for his SEVENTH gold medal of this games tonight.... don't forget to set your TiVo!

In Season: Peaches

Yum! Juicy Georgia peaches are now here! We picked up these lovely little guys at the Sever's Farm Stand at the Prior Lake Farmer's Market. I took their advice and let the peaches sit in the sun for two days to fully ripen. They are so sweet and juicy... be sure to have a napkin on hand when you eat these! We used them to make our latest galette: Peach and Blackberry.

Peach & Blackberry Galette
Available at the White Bear Lake Farmer's Market on Friday Morning
and the Prior Lake Farmer's Market on Saturday Mornings
