Twin Cities Trend: Rustic Mini Dessert Table

It seems like everyone is embracing a rustic, vintage-chic style for dessert tables and cakes this year. We have received several requests for great tasting, rustic confections without a lot of fuss.

At the Independent Wedding Association's In(dy)spire wedding fair, we decided to showcase our skills with a vintage inspired dessert table for attendees to check out and sample from.  With help from the fabulous vintage rental company, Lime Canary who provided the gorgeous buffet table and pastel colored cake stands, here's a look at what was presented:

Rustic Mini Dessert Table

Pies are making a statement in the dessert world. We make mini versions of classic favorites like apple, strawberry rhubarb, pumpkin, and key lime. Our miniature pies on a stick have been getting a lot of attention. They come in a circular shape or can be cut into different shapes like the state of Minnesota and Wisconsin

Less is more - cakes are getting a more natural styled or swirled buttercream look. Simple accents of flowers or broaches are popular as well.

Everyone's favorite, chocolate chip cookies, look just like the ones grandma used to make, but ours are made with decadent Valrhona chocolate chunks.  And rice krispie treats are done with a gourmet twist - made with brown butter and fleur de sel, then dipped in chocolate.

Don't forget edible guest favors - they make a great addition to your dessert spread.  Layered dessert shooters in glass bale jars, individually wrapped cake lollipop favors with a custom hang tag, or 2 French macaron favors are the perfect take-home treats for your guests.

Enchanted Barn Wedding Mini Dessert Table: Ann and Brian

Ann and Brian's wedding at the Enchanted Barn was a beautiful mix of bold colors and rustic-chic style.  Coordinated by Mi Mi Design, this intimate celebration had all the bells and whistles of a lavish party including fireworks and sky lanterns released at the end of the night.

Their custom mini dessert table featured a 3 tier cake as the centerpiece and a variety of delicious mini desserts.  The cake was covered with buttercream icing and decorated with teardrop fondant accents to match the bold purple and peacock blue color scheme.  Mini desserts included Fresh Fruit Tartlets, Tiramisu & Southern Banana Layered Dessert Shooters, Carrot Cake Sandwich Cookies, Chocolate Mini Cupcakes with Chocolate Buttercream, Apple Cinnamon Lattice Top Pies, Black Velvet Cake Lollipop, Peacock Blue Vanilla Macarons, and Chocolate Dipped Strawberries.

Thanks to Joe Dickie at Generation Photography for sharing the gorgeous photos with us, and congratulations to Ann and Brian!

Traditional Wedding Cake with Cascading Flowers for Mandi and Jeff

The 3 tier cake for Jeff and Mandi's wedding was a traditional style fondant wedding cake with brushed embroidery piping, but it truly came to life when floral designer Gabler Lund from Martha's Gardens added a cascade of fresh flowers down the side of the cake.  Gorgeous crystals were wrapped the base of each tier which added a subtle sparkle to the centerpiece.  Event planner Amy Zaroff was behind all of the details of this wedding and did an amazing job.  Congratulations Jeff and Mandi!

Dessert Table for Fete de Blanc at L'atelier Couture Bridal

Cocoa & Fig had the privilege of providing sweet bites for Fete de Blanc, L'atelier Couture Bridal's grand opening celebration last month.  The luxury dress shop moved from Selby Avenue in St. Paul to downtown Minneapolis.  It was a lovely evening with a runway fashion show featuring gowns by Peter Langner who flew in from Italy just for the event!  Many industry professionals and l'atelier clients were in attendance to help owner Amanda Kautt and staff celebrate their new Minneapolis location.

Our all-white miniature dessert table included White Chocolate Raspberry Cake Lollipops, Coconut Mini Cupcakes, White Chocolate Dipped Pretzels, Vanilla French Macarons, Russian Tea Cakes, Banana Pudding Dessert Shooters, and a variety of cheeses and crackers.

Congrats l'atelier couture and welcome to Minneapolis!
