Cornflower Blue Wedding Cake

We recently had the honor of creating a wedding cake and cupcake tower for a reception at the Chanhassen Dinner Theatres. We love it when brides bring us their ideas and we're able to make it happen. For this cake, the bride envisioned a gazebo where her Precious Moments cake topper could sit between the layers. We alternated the elegant decor on each tier between Swiss Dots and Scroll Piping. We also finished off each layer with a wide cornflower blue fondant ribbon, which matched the colors of the reception.

A coordinating custom cupcake tower finished off the dessert table.
The cake flavors were Vanilla Bean Cake with Raspberry Buttercream and Fresh Raspberries
and Almond Cake with Raspberry Buttercream and Fresh Raspberries.

Flip Flop Cupcakes

We were contacted by a past client to create some cute treats for a Mexico reunion party she was throwing. A bunch of friends had traveled to Mexico in February and were now getting back together to tell stories, share pictures and have a few margaritas! Inspired by our flip flop cake, the client asked us to create flip flop cupcakes. We were more than thrilled to test our creativity with these beach themed treats!

First, we made flip flops.... lots of flip flops.

Then we dipped our frosted cupcakes in crushed graham crackers and added paper parasols along with our flip flop sandals for a super cute beach themed cupcake.

Add a few margaritas and I think these cupcakes are ready to party!

Happy Birthday Cake

We were recently asked to create a surprise birthday cake for a client's husband. He was turning 64 and they had an inside joke about the Beatles song, "When I'm 64". The inscription reads, "I'll still love you when you're 64!" If you're not familiar with the lyrics, here is the first verse:

When I get older losing my hair
Many years from now
Will you still be sending me a Valentine
Birthday greetings, bottle of wine?
If I'd been out till quarter to three
Would you lock the door?
Will you still need me
Will you still feed me
When I'm sixty-four?

Schaffer-Butterbrodt Wedding

We had the honor of catering the wedding desserts for some very good friends of ours this past weekend. The ceremony and reception were held at the Landmark Center on Rice Park in beautiful downtown St.Paul.

They decided to go with cupcakes and macarons and leave the decorating up to us.
Cupcake flavors included:
Vanilla Bean Cake with Vanilla Bean Buttercream
Vanilla Bean Cake with Chocolate Satin Icing
Valrhona Chocolate Cake with Vanilla Bean Buttercream
Valrhona Chocolate Cake with Chocolate Satin Icing

Our custom square towers are perfect for displaying cupcakes. We decorated each tower with green and white damask fabric and green velvet ribbons to match the reception decor.

Pistachio Macarons not only matched the green and white decor, they are delicious as well!

Fresh Fruit Tartlets

I love dessert. If you read this blog with any regularity you probably already knew that. But what's not to love about these cute little miniature desserts? They're just large enough to satisfy a 3:00 sweets craving without spoiling your dinner. My grandma would have loved that. She was always so worried we would spoil our dinner. We call these adorable sweets Fresh Fruit Tartlets. We fill a flaky pastry shell with Signature Lemon Cream Cheese Filling then finish them off with seasonal berries.

I dare you to try to eat just one!
