Minneapolis Wedding Dessert Table: Jennifer + David

In anticipation of the 2011 wedding season, I want to share a stunning wedding with you from last year.  We are so fortunate to work with such fun and wonderful couples on their wedding days and Jennifer and David were no exception!  They were married at Holy Spirit Catholic Church in St. Paul with reception to follow at Mendakota Country Club.  They planned all the fun little details you see themselves - notice all the butterflies!  They even had live butterflies that they released after the ceremony.  And Jennifer's Mom made all of the bouquets and centerpieces, simply gorgeous!  Thanks to Jessica Smith Photography for the amazing images.  Head over to her blog for more images!  This wedding was also featured in Minnesota Bride magazine.

Etiquette Class with Paperista

We're so excited to share an upcoming event with you.  Paperista, the fabulous custom stationery boutique, is hosting an etiquette class just for brides.  And what could make an etiquette class even more fabulous?  A great dessert table, we think!  The event is Tuesday, March 29th from 6 – 8pm and features Angelyn Davis, an expert on etiquette.  Join us as she prepares you to host the most important event in your life – your wedding!

Hello Spring, We're Back!

Hello our dedicated readers!  Wait; are any of you still here?  So sorry for the long absence, I never intended to take such a hiatus from writing on here.  As most of you know, we opened our first retail location last February and there was a lot of work to be done to get up and running.  And then there were the products to bake, the deliveries to make, the invoicing and bill paying to do, the list goes on and on.  We were so busy with filling orders that our online presence needed to take a break.  Or perhaps that was me that needed the break!

In any event, we’re back on track now and our new goal is to write at least twice a week.  But don’t worry if we miss a day, more than likely we’re in the kitchen icing cupcakes or decorating a wedding cake and are covered from head to toe in buttercream.  Computers and buttercream don’t mix by the way, but that’s another story!

You may have noticed the new blog design.  We wanted the look of the website and blog to be more cohesive and we think Keely from Luxe & Lillies did a great job.

On our new and improved blog, you’ll read all about the amazing weddings we’ve attended and the dessert table we created for them.  You’ll get to know our clients and why they chose Cocoa & Fig as their dessert caterer.  And we promise to post lots and lots of pictures.........

Independent Wedding Fair

 Cocoa & Fig is a proud member of the Independent Wedding Association and this weekend we'll be participating in their February 5 Wedding Fair at the Campus Club.  In addition to a collection of amazing vendors, there will also be a series of wedding mini-courses to help with your planning.  This is a different kind of wedding fair, so don't be afraid to ask questions and spend some time talking to the vendors to really get to know them.  Most of these businesses have single owners with just a few employees, so chances are you'll see this person on your wedding day.  I know Joe and I personally make it to each of the weddings we provide desserts for every year.That's a big commitment, be we feel it's worth it!
