Pink & Green 4th of July Wedding

I have to admit, when we were approached to do a 4th of July wedding I was sure the couple was going with a red, white and blue theme. And although that would have been charming as well, I think this bright pink and green theme was so much fun! Check out the room set up below.

The reception was held at the Dellwood Hills Gold Club in Dellwood, not far from White Bear Lake. Our friends over at The Loft Bridal in Lakeville were responsible for the event planning. At the top of each place setting was a bundle of neatly tied sparklers.

I loved, loved, loved the flowers provided by Forest Lake Floral. Beautiful shades of bright pink and lime green. And the use of lemons and limes in the vases was adorable!

We designed this chic 2-tiered cake as the centerpiece for our miniature dessert buffet. The bride requested a simple, elegant design which is our kind of style!

A shot of the entire dessert buffet... all 12 feet of it! It's difficult to get a complete shot of such a long space.... I think I need a "landscape" lense! In all there are 600 pieces of mini desserts....

Pink & Brown Wedding

We had an opportunity to create another wonderful miniature dessert spread for a recent wedding held at the Minneapolis Municipal Building. If you've never been to the municipal building you should go take a look. Here is a description I found online which does a much better job of describing the space than I could! :o)

"Step back in time and experience the beauty and majesty of the historic Minneapolis City Hall and Hennepin County Courthouse building for your next event. This 110-year-old building listed on the National Register of Historic Places features Richardsonian Romanesque architecture, a 345 foot clock tower rivaling Big Ben, a six-story Rotunda adorned with 37 stained glass windows and a skylight and Italian Carrara marble, the historically renovated City Council Chambers and more."

But now for the pics!

Here is a shot of the cupcake tower filled with baby cakes, flavors:
Black Velvet with Cream Cheese Icing
Almond with Raspberry Buttercream

Also pictured: Fresh Fruit Tartlets, Raspberry Macarons & Tiramisu Dessert Shooters

A great shot of the Chocolate Espresso Macarons

The whole table! 16 feet of dessert goodness!

Baby Shower Peanut Butter Pops

Here is a shot of some custom peanut butter pops we created recently. These pops were decorated in pastel colors for a baby shower! Each flower pot was painted in a complimentary color and decorated with a cute baby themed emblem.

Mommy to be sign attached to flower pot.... so cute!

We tied each stem with a coordinating ribbon and attached a pacifier decor piece. These pops are sure to be enjoyed by all!

Floral Wedding Cake

We had the honor of creating a gorgeous 4-tiered wedding cake for a recent wedding held at the Carlson Towers Rotunda in Minnetonka. Liz and Lamont first met with us last fall to discuss their wedding reception plans. Liz described her desire for a simple and elegant design adorned with fresh flowers. They chose our Signature Black Velvet Cake with Cream Cheese Icing. We finished the exterior with our Italian Meringue Buttercream for a smooth finish.

The gorgeous fresh flowers were provided by Posies Studio.

We love meeting new vendors at our events! These beautiful pictures of our cake were taken by Jan Kentala of Jan Kentala Photography. You can see more pictures of her amazing work for this wedding on her blog. We hope to have the opportunity to work with Jan again soon!

Congratulations Liz & Lamont!

Wedding Dress Replica Cake

We make a lot of cakes here at Cocoa & Fig. And all of them are special in their own way. But every once in awhile, we are asked to create a cake that really moves us. A few weeks ago, we received an email from a gentleman that wanted us to create an amazing cake for his wedding anniversary. He sent us pictures of his wedding day and talked about how magical his wife had looked in her dress. He wondered if it was possible to create a replica of the dress in cake. We didn't hesitate for a second.... of course we could!

Here is a picture of the lovely Lisa from her wedding day. Notice her beautiful dress which consists of a sage green corset top and flowing white skirt.

Joe began by shaping a body of out rice krispie treats. He then cut and shaped the bodice of the dress from green fondant and hand painted the floral detail.

The strings of the corset were piped in pink royal icing and the bodice was attached to the skirt which covered the dome-shaped cake.

Here is the finished cake as it looked when delivered. We even included the sheer white shawl that was in the original picture.

This final picture was sent to us after the party. I just love this shot with our replica cake seen in front of the original picture. I am so happy we could recreate a piece of this special day for them!

Congratulations!
